| "7:26" TO HIT TRIPLE A RADIO |
Posted: 02.08.10
|
Great artists do not always explode onto the music scene. For most, their story is one of a gradual ascent to achieving success. West Avenue recording artist Michael Nappi has such a story.
Since the release of his debut album, Here We Go Again, this pop/rock singer and songwriter on a self-started indie label has been building a strong and burgeoning following. And he's doing it grassroots-style - winning fans, peers, and music executives alike - one by one, song by song, show after show.
Nappi’s support has grown steadily in his Westchester, New York community. But it is the backing of the local Triple A radio station, 107.1 The Peak WXPK-FM, led by Program Director Chris Herrmann, Music Director Rob Arrow, and DJs Jimmy Fink and Caroline Corley, that has set him on his way to becoming a bona fide contender in today's competitive radio market.
Here We Go Again, produced by Steve Buonanotte and mixed by Grammy Award-winning mix engineer Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews Band) is a foundation from which Nappi can connect with the Triple A radio audience. It is also a testament to the magic that happens when an artist’s talent matches his passion for the craft.
It is this talent that earned Nappi a personal invitation from Jack Barton, FMQB's Senior Director of Triple A, to play the 2009 FMQB Triple A Conference in Boulder, Colorado. Following a warm introduction by John Schoenberger, All Access’ Triple A Editor, Nappi performed an hour-long acoustic set during the opening reception. This talent also earned him a spot on WXPK's critically-acclaimed Peak Performances Volume 2 CD. Nappi's live Peak Performance of “7:26,” the first single off of Here We Go Again, was included on the album along with tracks from Rob Thomas, the John Butler Trio, and Eric Hutchinson. Nappi and his band also performed at the CD release party. The CD, which benefits The Food Bank for Westchester and the Sidewalk Angels Foundation, is available on Amazon.com.
With an extraordinary year behind him, and endless possibilities ahead in 2010, the end of Michael Nappi's story remains to be written. So here he goes again.

| NAPPI TO ROCK BOULDER |
Posted: 07.30.09

West Avenue Records is pleased to announce that Michael Nappi will be performing at this year's FMQB Triple A Conference in Boulder, Colorado on August 5th.
Nappi is a New York-based singer/songwriter gaining national exposure with "7:26," the single from his debut album, Here We Go Again. He is thrilled by the invitation from Jack Barton, FMQB's Senior Director of Triple A.
"Playing Boulder is a dream come true," Nappi says. "I'm honored to play alongside so many great musicians and to share my music with the industry so intimately."
For 17 years, hundreds of artists have vied for the opportunity to play Boulder's renowned Triple A Radio Conference. Triple A Radio, also known as Adult Album Alternative, is the musical format that broke acts like the Dave Matthews Band and introduced John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Matchbox Twenty, Coldplay, and David Gray to radio. The conference gives radio programmers, music executives, and local audiences the chance to hear both up-and-coming and high-profile acts alike.
Nappi's grassroots support has grown steadily in his Westchester, New York community. But it is the passion and commitment of the local Triple A radio station, 107.1 The Peak WXPK-FM, and Program Director Chris Herrmann, that has set Nappi on his way to becoming a real contender in today's competitive radio market.
"Michael writes one heck of a song and performs it just as well," Herrmann says. "The production on Here We Go Again is fantastic and most definitely has major label finish. "7:26" is already reacting with our listeners. It easily keeps company with the rest of our mix and is chock full of hooks and memorable melodies. We're excited that a local guy has given us a song that we wouldn't be at all surprised to hear on one of the big NYC stations soon - in fact, we're anticipating it."
Produced by Nappi's friend and co-writer, Steve Buonanotte, and mixed by Grammy Award-winning mix engineer, Jeff Juliano, Here We Go Again is on a roll. With over twenty-five radio stations spinning Nappi's music nationwide, it's safe to say the "Love & Nappiness" is spreading. Even 42BELOW Vodka is creating a signature "Love & Nappiness" cocktail which will premiere at his Boulder performance.
"Anyone who will be in Boulder for the upcoming FMQB Triple A Conference would do themselves a favor by seeing Michael Nappi perform," says Jim Nelson of A Taste of Triple A. "Listening to the high-gloss, übercatchy, melodic rock & roll of Michael's debut release, Here We Go Again, it's no stretch whatsoever to imagine that fans of Matchbox 20, Five For Fighting, and Train will fall head over heels for this New Yorker. "7:26" and "Miserable" are the tour de forces on an album stuffed with strong songs. You'll find a copy of Here We Go Again in the bag when you check in at the convention, and for my money it's worth the time to check it out!"
"7:26" will impact Triple A radio on August 17, 2009.

| MICHAEL NAPPI WORKS WITH CINEMATOGRAPHER JIMMY IENNER, JR. |
Posted: 10.16.08
|
Entertainment industry veteran Jimmy Ienner, Jr. is shooting five live performance videos for West Avenue Records recording artist, Michael Nappi, the label announced today. The videos will feature select live performances from Nappi's debut album, Here We Go Again, including the album's first single, "7:26," which will impact radio nationally on October 20th.
"I thought the album was solid the first time I heard it. Interesting and inspiring," Ienner says. "Then, I saw Michael live at Palmer's Crossing. He showed great potential, charisma and substance and I immediately wanted to capture that on film. We made plans right then and there to shoot the performance videos that week."
Former chief photographer and video director at Sony BMG Music Entertainment Inc. for nearly two decades, and currently the president and founder of United Productions Company, Ienner boasts a client list of some of music's biggest names, including Train, Tony Bennett, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, Kevin Bacon, and Bruce Hornsby. His work can be seen on MTV, VH1, HBO and all of the major network channels.
"Jimmy Ienner, Jr. is a gifted and talented artist in his own right. We are absolutely thrilled to have him on board for this project and look forward to many future collaborations," said Lisa Vitello of West Avenue Records.
The performance videos will serve as promotion and marketing tools to introduce Nappi to the radio, music, film and television, and publishing industries, and the press. The videos will also provide an opportunity to spread a little more "Love & Nappiness" to Nappi's ever-growing national and international fan bases.

| NEW MUSIC MONDAY |
Posted: 07.07.08
|
I'm a songwriter. It's what I love to do. Actually, I can't help but write songs - they just spill out of me. Because so many of you have asked (and because I'd like to share more of them with you than just the thirteen on Here We Go Again) I'm starting "New Music Monday." Every Monday I will post an unreleased demo of a song on my MySpace page at www.myspace.com/michaelnappi.
Some of these songs will be mostly finished while others may be acoustic recordings from my living room the night I wrote them. Hopefully one day they'll all find a way onto a future album. They may change a bit, they may not. I hope you love them for what they are until then.
Thanks for letting me share my passion with you.

In quiet times, it is said that fishermen mend their nets when they can't be out at sea. It has been a quiet time for me these last three months or so. The storms of winter have subsided and a strange new melody has been added to my life's concerto. It has been one year today since we started West Avenue Records and launched what seems to be the best friend maker ever! That being said, my expectations of grandeur have adjusted accordingly. I sometimes wonder who it was that had the bright idea of attaching a plow to a unicorn?
New opportunities have arisen and I've booked a bunch of shows beyond my neighborhood. I'm really looking forward to those dates and to meeting you all somewhere down the road. I wait for my train, I tune my guitar, and I write new songs hoping they reach you with a message. What that message is is between you and me - and I like that.
I hope this blog finds you all well and peaceful and that your best days are yet to come and your worst days, behind you.
Love is the answer for sure.

| SINGING TO STOP CANCER |
Posted: 04.23.08
|
This Friday, April 25th, I will have the honor of performing at Relay For Life®, the American Cancer Society's signature event, at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.
It was my niece Lauren's idea and I think it's a brilliant one. I'm humbled to be part of Relay For Life. Cancer hits close to home for too many of us. Life is short. Cancer makes life shorter. Let's shorten the life of cancer.
The entertainment, which will also feature performances by several local bands from the Albany area, is a special part of this annual event held at the college. The festival is expected to draw over 500 participants with over 60 teams, and has already raised almost $30,000 for the American Cancer Society.
The band and I will be playing two sets, at 6:45pm and 10:00pm, on the mainstage on the Campus Green. For more info, please check out the site here.

ABOUT RELAY FOR LIFE®
Relay For Life® is a fun-filled overnight experience designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer. At Relay, people from within the community gather to celebrate survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and to fight back against this disease. Relay participants help raise money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society in its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health issue. During Relay For Life® events, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. The events are held overnight to represent the fact that cancer never sleeps. Through the survivors' lap and the luminaria ceremony, we honor the people who have faced cancer first hand, and we remember those who have been lost to this disease.

Michael Nappi has partnered with New York City-based producer Steve Buonanotte to begin recording his debut album.
A prolific songwriter, producer and engineer, Buonanotte has had over a thousand television credits, in eleven countries, on shows such as the WB's "Summerland" and "Smallville," ABC’s "One Life to Live" and "All My Children" and CBS’s "The Young and the Restless." He has also worked with chart-topping artists Jennifer Paige, Vitamin C and Willa Ford.
And yes, the rumors are true. Steve does make Michael record his acoustic guitar tracks wearing a mitten with the finger tips cut off. Apparently Michael has a noisy slap.
